![]() ![]() Officially, 4K blu-ray disc playback on a PC requires a PC with an Intel processor using Intel graphics - so even if you have a PC with an Intel processor, if you're using a dedicated graphics card (from Nvidia or AMD, for instance), or a PC with an AMD processor, it won't work. There's also a way to set up VLC (free media player) to play blu-rays, though you need to download some extra library files and do some manual copying of files & setup, but it works.Īlso, if you ever consider playing 4K blu-rays on a PC (rather than 1080p blu-rays), that's a royal pain, and might not even work, depending on your computer setup. ![]() I've used PowerDVD and I think it's good, though as another has said, it needs to be purchased. It will still play 4k discs but like I said I had some playback issue even with gpu acceleration it would play and then sorta buffer and so on. Took me way too long to source all of this information on my own so hopefully this helps and you can now watch Blu-ray’s on windows. Now you can open VLC media player open your Blu-ray disk and it’ll just play. Run MakeMKV and go to the preferences and then click “integration” now check the box that says VLC. Now if you want to play the disks you’ll still need to do the first step and you’ll still need MakeMKV and VLC media player. You can use this to rip all of your discs and from there you can just play the mkv files in VLC media player or you can use something like HandBrake to encode them to mp4. Then you’ll need to go track down some firmware so that you can install that in the drive which will allow you to bypass all the annoying restrictions. You’ll want to get a compatible drive if you don’t already have one. So this works much better for Blu-ray, I’ve had some stuttering issues with 4k (playing from disk that is) but here goes. Can anyone recommend me a software to play blu rays off my windows PC that is intuitive to use and allows me to navigate and fully get everything out of what my blu rays have to offer? Thank you all. A big part of me getting into blu rays are diving into those extra features that streaming services don't provide. I got this one called DVD and Blu Ray PLUS free off the windows store and it works perfectly fine for actually playing the film itself, however there seems to be no option to go to a main menu and look at all the extra special features (commentary, behind the scenes, etc). Apparently I need software to use the blu ray player (it didn't come with it) so that I can actually play and view my movies. However my problem is my dumbass thought you just plug it in and pop a disc in and it's good to good. I bought this blu ray player to plug into my laptop and watch blu rays: ![]()
